MODULE 1 (4 LESSONS)
“Hi, what’s your name?”
- Objective: greetings and introductions
- Topic: formal and informal greetings: introduce yourself (simple questions and answers)
- Grammar TIPS: alphabet and pronunciation, personal pronouns and present indicative of the verbs “to be” and “to have”
- Phonetics: pronunciation of vowels
- Culture: how Italians greet each other: the cheek kiss and the handshake
- Podcast: informal meetings among friends and formal meetings with people we don’t know
MODULE 2 (4 LESSONS)
“Where are you from and where do you live?”
- Objective: personal information
- Topic: asking for and giving personal information (address, phone number) and talking about your family, hobbies, and work
- Grammar: numbers 0-100, definite and indefinite articles, simple prepositions of place (“in,” “a”)
- Phonetics: pronunciation of vowels and double consonants
- Culture: the map of Italy and its 20 regions, with a focus on Turin, your teacher’s city
- Podcast: interview to my brother Andrea from Turin
MODULE 3 (4 LESSONS)
“What do you do for a living?”
- Objective: talking about daily routines, free time and food
- Topic: talking about studies, professions and daily activities
- Grammar: asking and telling the time. Gender and number of nouns and adjectives
- Phonetics: the hard and soft “c” and intonation in questions and statements
- Culture: the culture of “aperitivo” in Italy
- Podcast: Daniela’s daily routine: a vibrant mix of work, sport, cooking and friends
